SERVICE PROJECT
We'd like to pursue a textile drive to raise funds to benefit the work of Samaritan's Purse with refugees in Europe. This is a relevant need in our world and the specific focus on refugee care coincides with the the 2016 theme of Missions Fest Seattle.
A textile drive is a newer concept that involves the church collecting clothing, shoes, accessories, and household linens in any condition for reuse/re-purposing/recycling. A processing company, such as USAgain, then brings a truck to our facility, and we load it with the bags of donations. They weigh the load and send us a check based on the weight of the goods received. This no-cost fundraiser generates lots of involvement because we all have clothing and household textiles we no longer need that can be re-purposed. All funds raised will benefit Samaritan's Purse Refugee Response. Amy Hanson will be co-leading this with Stephanie Perlman. The date is tentatively planned for the weekend of October 15th/16th depending on USAgain availability.
