We'd like to pursue a textile drive to raise funds to benefit the work of Samaritan's Purse with refugees in Europe. This is a relevant need in our world and the specific focus on refugee care coincides with the the 2016 theme of Missions Fest Seattle.
A textile drive is a newer concept that involves the church collecting clothing, shoes, accessories, and household linens in any condition for reuse/re-purposing/recycling. A processing company, such as USAgain, then brings a truck to our facility, and we load it with the bags of donations. They weigh the load and send us a check based on the weight of the goods received. This no-cost fundraiser generates lots of involvement because we all have clothing and household textiles we no longer need that can be re-purposed. All funds raised will benefit Samaritan's Purse Refugee Response. Amy Hanson will be co-leading this with Stephanie Perlman. The date is tentatively planned for the weekend of October 15th/16th depending on USAgain availability.
Deb Childs will speak in the morning service and will share about her impactful overseas ministry in Mumbai, India with Action International among human trafficking victims.
Thang Pham will preach in the morning service about what God is doing locally through the ministry of CRU in the new school year and why it being Christ' ambassador matters.
Bill Munson will be sharing about the incredible lessons he and Ann have gleaned from the Lord as they've spent the past three months doing short-term missions work in Mumbai, India.
Communion Sunday: Merry Davey will speak about what God is doing through her impact as a long-term missionary teacher in a missionary school for international students in Spain.
